Eligibility and Family Services

A two-generation (2Gen) approach to supporting family well-being means intentionally and simultaneously working with children and the adults for long term positive family outcomes. At The EDvocate Group, our philosophy is that advocacy is the core of the 2Gen approach. Ours is an individualized approach to the design and delivery of program systems and services to support improved educational, economic, health, safety, and advocacy outcomes. The EDvocate Group works with Head Start, Early Head Start, Child Care and early childhood education programs to establish and implement interconnected and systemic efforts through family engagement.

Community Assessments and Data Lessons

Data is equivalent to knowledge. Simply stated, data is useful information that you collect to support organizational decision-making and strategy. Data enables organizations to track and review the health of various business processes and essential systems. Data sources, as well as, amounts are growing only and so is our ability to turn them into knowledge.

- Data resources and Using Data

The Community-Wide Strategic Planning and Needs Assessment is the foundation for any program because it identifies the strengths and resources available in the community to meet the needs of children, youth, and families, as well as the particular challenges of the community.

Cultivating Conversations

Inequities are created when barriers prevent individuals and communities from accessing resources supporting positive education, health, dental, nutrition, transportation, relationship, and life outcomes. Feeling empowered to overcome whatever the barrier and reach full potential can be inspired by hearing the accomplishments of others that seem just like us. The EDvocate Group aims to create space for people to express themselves freely about obstacles they’ve overcome, successes they’ve achieved, and changes that came about because of advocacy. Family Engagement rooted in advocacy for both child and family is the methodology of The EDvocate Group. Professional development offerings include:

  • Effective Family Engagement Fundamentals

“Everyday Griot” is a conversation about advocacy. Whether it is about advocating for change at home, in schools, in the community, or beyond, the stories of people like you and me inspire us to believe we too can be the change we seek. Join us as we dissect how people rise above and change their circumstances.

Grass Roots Governance

Something grassroots is at the most basic level of something, down there in the dirt with the roots of an idea or activity. If you're looking to make a change from the ground up, start at the grassroots. Governance in community organizations can and should be a training ground for advocacy skills that participants to apply to making changes in their personal life, professional life, and their communities.
